NORTH CAROLINA — A Charlotte man was arrested following a joint law enforcement operation that resulted in the seizure of more than two kilograms of fentanyl, according to authorities.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office C.I.T. Team conducted the operation after a traffic stop on Highway 74 led to a vehicle pursuit on May 27.

Following the crash, Thompson reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him.
After Thompson’s arrest, deputies searched his vehicle and discovered more than two kilograms of fentanyl concealed in the trunk, according to authorities.
Thompson was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Rutherford County Detention Center while awaiting further judicial proceedings.
