NORTH CAROLINA — A Lenoir County woman was arrested Tuesday following a traffic stop in Kinston that led to drug charges, according to the Kinston Police Department.
Police said officers with the department’s C-Squad conducted a traffic stop around 4:03 p.m. May 19 on East Gordon Street near N.C. Highway 11 for a motor vehicle violation.
During the stop, officers reported seeing an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle and noticing signs consistent with the presence of narcotics.
Authorities said a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of illegal narcotics. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Nikki Garner of Lenoir County, was arrested at the scene.
Garner was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container of alcohol.
No additional details were immediately released by police.
