One person arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A Rocky Mount man has been arrested on multiple drug trafficking charges following a multi-agency narcotics investigation, according to authorities.

Police said the arrest occurred Saturday morning after officers conducted a traffic stop around 11 a.m. on a person of interest identified as Kendrick Williams.

During the stop, investigators reported finding more than half a kilogram of suspected fentanyl powder, along with fentanyl pills, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine inside Williams’ vehicle.

Following the traffic stop, officers from the Rocky Mount Police Department, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence. Authorities said additional narcotics, cash, and firearms were recovered during the search.

Williams has been charged with two felony counts of trafficking opiates. He is currently being held in the Nash County Jail without bond.

Police said additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
