NORTH CAROLINA — A Cove City man has been arrested following a drug investigation involving multiple Eastern Carolina counties, according to authorities.

Deputies with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office said Larry Cooper was taken into custody Tuesday as part of an operation conducted by the Neuse River Narcotics Task Force.

Investigators reported seizing more than seven ounces of methamphetamine, a fully automatic rifle, drug paraphernalia and other drug-related items during the investigation.

Cooper, 42, faces multiple charges, including six felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said Cooper was booked into jail without bond.

The Neuse River Narcotics Task Force includes law enforcement agencies from Craven, Carteret and Pamlico counties, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
