LOUISIANA — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with multiple drug charges in Eunice, according to police.
Authorities identified the suspect as Deshawn Wheeler, 28. Police said Wheeler had multiple active warrants when a detective spotted him near an incident officers were responding to on Wednesday.
Wheeler was taken into custody without incident, and investigators subsequently conducted a search of a nearby residence.
During the search, officers reported finding approximately 5.2 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale commonly associated with narcotics distribution, three boxes of THC or cannabis vape cartridges, and approximately eight bottles of promethazine. Police also said they located multiple sandwich bags consistent with packaging materials used for distributing illegal drugs.
According to authorities, Wheeler is facing several charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, prohibited acts, and sale, distribution, or possession of a legend drug without a prescription.
No additional information has been released. The case remains under investigation.
