ILLINOIS — A Chicago man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he was found with a stolen firearm and drugs on a CTA Red Line train earlier this week.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, deputies saw 47-year-old Jerry Blackful using emergency exit doors between two train cars at the 95th Street station around 6:35 p.m. Monday.
While taking Blackful into custody, investigators said deputies recovered a loaded firearm from his waistband and ammunition from his pocket. Authorities later determined the gun had been reported stolen out of Harvey.
Police also said Blackful was found carrying suspected cocaine, ecstasy and crack cocaine.
He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a weapon, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
Despite the charges, Blackful was released from custody following a detention hearing Wednesday, according to authorities.
