
SOUTH CAROLINA — A man is facing multiple drug and weapons charges after police discovered illegal drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop in Greer.
According to the Greer Police Department, officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway 101 and Interstate 85 after observing a vehicle displaying an improper license plate.
During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Authorities said the search resulted in the discovery of approximately 6 grams of cocaine, 10.4 grams of heroin, 20 grams of marijuana, one Xanax pill, three additional pills that were submitted for laboratory analysis, a digital scale and a firearm.
Following the investigation, police charged Andrew Hughes with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
In addition to the criminal charges, Hughes was also issued traffic citations related to the stop.
The investigation remains ongoing.
