OHIO — A man is facing felony charges after police discovered a stash of stolen power tools in his basement.
According to the Village of Sebring Police Department, officers were alerted on Nov. 21 that a stolen vehicle had been spotted at the Mahoning Valley Market on State Route 62.
Police located the vehicle parked at a nearby residence and initiated an investigation.
Officers observed several individuals inside the home through a window and ordered them to exit. Two women came out initially, claiming no one else was in the house.
However, one of the women later re-entered and returned to inform police that a man named Jerry Carter was inside and would comply.
Carter exited the house and was detained. He then gave police permission to search the property.
During the search, officers discovered a large quantity of stolen power tools in the basement.
Additional tools, a makeshift shed, and a stolen four-wheeler linked to a Columbiana County theft were also found on the property.
Carter was arrested and booked into the Mahoning County Jail on two felony counts of receiving stolen property.
The thefts remain under investigation.
