NORTH CAROLINA — Rocky Mount Elementary School was closed Monday after flooding was reported in a lower hallway of the building, according to school officials.
The closure was announced Monday morning by the school district. Officials said students who were already riding buses to school would still be taken to the campus, where they would be served breakfast before being transported back home.
School officials did not immediately provide details about what caused the flooding or how extensive the damage was inside the school.
“Thank you for your patience as we address these maintenance repairs,” the school district said in a statement.
The school closure comes as parts of the region dealt with wet weather Monday morning. No additional schedule changes were immediately announced for other schools in Franklin County.
