NORTH CAROLINA — No threats were reported after several weapons were found in a student’s vehicle at Randleman High School on Monday, according to school officials.
Randolph County Schools said a School Resource Officer discovered a shotgun in the back seat of a student’s truck during a routine parking lot check. A machete and a knife were also found inside the vehicle.
Principal Corey Phillips notified families about the incident, stating that law enforcement and school administrators responded quickly and confiscated the weapons.
“At this time, no information exists to indicate that the weapons were used in a threatening manner at any time on the school’s campus towards any student or staff member,” Phillips said in a message to parents.
School officials emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains a top priority.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted to determine whether the student could face charges or disciplinary action.
