MARYLAND — A review of available 2025-26 Maryland public school calendars shows nearly all school systems across the state are currently scheduled to finish classes in June 2026 rather than May.
The Maryland State Department of Education’s statewide opening and closing dates document shows every traditional public school system listed with a June ending date for the 2025-26 school year.
Among the earliest endings in the state is Garrett County Public Schools, which is scheduled to conclude classes on June 8, 2026. St. Mary’s County Public Schools and Washington County Public Schools are both currently scheduled to end on June 9, 2026.
Dorchester County Public Schools lists June 10, 2026 as the closing date, while Cecil County Public Schools and Wicomico County Public Schools are both scheduled to finish on June 11, 2026.
Several Maryland systems plan to end on June 12, 2026, including Carroll County Public Schools, Harford County Public Schools, Kent County Public Schools, Talbot County Public Schools and Worcester County Public Schools.
Larger Maryland districts generally extend even later into June. Prince George’s County Public Schools currently lists June 18, 2026 as the final day for students.
Howard County Public School System also plans to end on June 18, 2026, according to its published dates-only calendar.
Meanwhile, Montgomery County Public Schools, the state’s largest district, revised its calendar earlier this year and now lists June 25, 2026 as the final day of school for students following weather-related calendar adjustments.
In Baltimore, Baltimore City Public Schools currently lists June 11, 2026 as the last day of school without inclement weather make-up days.
The review did not find any traditional Maryland public school systems currently scheduled to end the 2025-26 school year during May 2026. District calendars can still change because of weather closures, state waivers or future board revisions. This review was based on publicly available calendars and state education documents and should not be considered a complete list of every Maryland educational program.
