KENTUCKY — Two high schools in Franklin County were placed under heightened security Friday after receiving bomb threats, according to school officials.
The threats were reported at Franklin County High School and Western Hills High School. Officials confirmed that all students and staff at both schools are safe.
Superintendent Mark Kopp said law enforcement officers are actively searching the buildings and asked parents not to come to the schools to sign out their children during the investigation.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the threats appear to be part of a broader nationwide hoax targeting schools.
Authorities have not released additional details about the source of the threats. The situation remains under investigation.
