Multiple people injured following crash involving school bus in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A crash involving a school bus in western North Carolina sent multiple people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.

The crash happened near the area of Skyland Drive and Fisher Creek Road in Sylva, according to the Jackson County Emergency Management Division.

Officials said the crash involved multiple vehicles, including a school bus. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 3:30 p.m., and Skyland Drive was shut down for several hours while first responders worked in the area.

Authorities later reopened the roadway Tuesday evening.

Officials said no one on the school bus was injured. However, multiple people in another vehicle suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
