INDIANA — A 6-year-old boy who was reported missing Saturday night in Plainfield was found dead in a pond, according to police.
The Plainfield Police Department announced Sunday morning that Mohamedamin Mohamed was located deceased after an overnight search.
Police said the child was reported missing after he wandered away from a residence in the 10700 block of Cardinal Circle on the northeast side of Plainfield around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities described the boy as a Black male who was last seen wearing a black or red T-shirt and black or red shorts. Investigators believed he was not wearing shoes when he disappeared.
Following the report, Plainfield police and emergency personnel launched a search of the area and asked residents to check around their homes, garages, sheds and yards for signs of the child.
On Sunday, police confirmed Mohamed had been found dead in a pond. Additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
