PENNSYLVANIA — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a wrong-way crash involving four vehicles on Interstate 83 in York County on Thursday night, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 10 p.m. near Exit 10 in the Loganville area of Springfield Township.
Investigators said 75-year-old Deborah Williams of Middle River, Maryland, was driving a Honda CR-V when she entered I-83 at Exit 10 and began traveling north in the southbound lanes.
Police said an SUV traveling south was unable to avoid a head-on collision with the Honda, causing the SUV to overturn and the Honda to spin. A pickup truck pulled onto the shoulder after seeing headlights approaching in its lane, but the Honda and SUV struck the truck. A sedan then collided with the overturned SUV, according to troopers.
Williams and a passenger in the Honda were killed in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the name of the passenger.
The driver and passenger of the overturned SUV were taken to a hospital with injuries, police said.
Troopers said the drivers of the pickup truck and sedan suffered minor injuries and declined transportation to a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
