
FLORIDA — An inmate was injured during an altercation at a Miami-Dade correctional facility Tuesday evening and was later airlifted to a hospital, authorities said.
According to the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Officials said the altercation involved multiple inmates, though details about what led to the fight have not been released.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to the facility and transported the injured inmate by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the extent of the inmate’s injuries or their current condition.
Corrections officials said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. No additional information has been released.
