ILLINOIS — A human skull was discovered in a forest preserve in west suburban Kane County, according to local officials.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office said the skull was found Sunday in a forest preserve near Carpentersville.
Authorities reported that no other bones were recovered at the scene.
Officials said an anthropologist will examine the skull to help determine its origin and any possible cause of death. The process could take several months before results are available.
No additional details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities have not said whether the discovery is believed to be connected to any missing persons cases.
