
OHIO — A serious injury crash involving two vehicles shut down eastbound traffic on U.S. Route 33 Thursday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response and sending four people to area hospitals.
The crash occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 57, according to early reports from the scene.
Authorities said the crash was handled by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, with multiple agencies assisting in the response. Emergency crews from Indian Lake EMS, Bellefontaine EMS, BMRT Ambulance District, and Huntsville Fire responded and transported four patients.
Three of the injured were taken to Lima Memorial Hospital, while one patient was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital. One of the patients, described as elderly, was reportedly experiencing chest pains.
Officials also reported that a cat was found inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The animal is now in the custody of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Eastbound lanes of U.S. 33 were closed for approximately 60 to 90 minutes before reopening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and additional details are expected to be released.
