Four people arrested after house used for illegal gambling in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Four people were arrested after authorities raided a home in Andrews that investigators said was being used for illegal gambling.

According to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division executed a search warrant Monday at a home on West Cottonwood Street following a month-long investigation.

Authorities said the search uncovered 56 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of crack cocaine, 304 grams of marijuana, 6.5 grams of fentanyl, 5 grams of methamphetamine, 22 grams of MDMA, three firearms and six illegal video poker machines.

Glen Williams, 39, of Andrews, was charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking methamphetamine/cocaine base, trafficking cocaine, distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, six counts of unlawful possession of a slot or vending machine, and unlawful games and betting.

Robert McDonald Jr., 39, of Andrews, was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, third offense; possession with intent to distribute cocaine, third offense; and failure to appear.

Silas McGill, 63, of Andrews, was charged with manufacture or distribution of cocaine.

Kevin Chandler, 46, of Georgetown, was also arrested. Authorities said Chandler was wanted on a full extradition warrant from Ohio.

Officials said the operation was conducted jointly by the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit and SLED’s Alcohol Enforcement Unit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
