Four Mexico residents sentenced following drug bust in South Caroina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Four men from Mexico have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a drug trafficking operation that distributed fentanyl and heroin in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Federal prosecutors said Federico Parra Lopez, 32, was sentenced to 130 months in prison, while Marcos Flores Aquino, 25, received a 46-month sentence. Their sentencing followed that of co-defendants Omar Sanchez Aquino, 33, and Miguel Angulo Perez, 22.

Evidence presented during sentencing hearings showed the men were part of a drug trafficking organization that originated in Mexico and operated in Myrtle Beach during 2023 and 2024.

According to the DOJ, Parra Lopez managed the Myrtle Beach operation and maintained an apartment where kilogram quantities of fentanyl and heroin were received for distribution. Prosecutors said he also possessed a firearm used to protect the drugs stored at the apartment.

Authorities said Flores Aquino, Sanchez Aquino and Perez served as drivers for the organization, repackaging and delivering drugs at Parra Lopez’s direction and collecting proceeds that were sent back to Mexico.

The operation was dismantled following a joint federal, state and local investigation that led to a federal indictment in October 2024.

The DOJ said all four men were in the United States illegally and will be deported to Mexico after completing their prison sentences.
