OHIO — Administrators are investigating after a fourth-grade student brought pills to a Dayton school on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Dayton Leadership Academies along West Riverview Avenue.

In a social media post, the school said administrators immediately investigated the situation, contacted the appropriate parents, and worked with authorities and medics to ensure student safety.

School officials said all students are safe and are being properly cared for.

“The safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority,” the school said in the statement. “We will continue to partner with Goodwill Easterseals to teach Generation Rx lessons about prescription drug safety.”

According to the school, the prescription drug safety course was taught to all students from kindergarten through eighth grade in October.

Additional details were not immediately available Thursday night.
