
OKLAHOMA — The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in the North Canadian River near Jones on Tuesday evening.
According to the sheriff’s office, two men were fishing on the river around 5 p.m. when they saw a body floating in the water and contacted authorities.
The Jones Police Department requested assistance from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the scene along with Oklahoma City Fire Department Swift Water Rescue teams to help recover the body.
Officials confirmed the victim was an adult, but the person’s identity has not been released.
Authorities said the state medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
