TEXAS — A bicyclist was killed Monday afternoon in a crash along Interstate 20 in Arlington, according to the Arlington Police Department.
Police said officers responded just before 4 p.m. to eastbound I-20 near Matlock Road.
Investigators said the bicyclist was attempting to cross the interstate when a vehicle traveling in the second lane swerved to avoid hitting them. Authorities said a Toyota Prius traveling behind that vehicle then struck the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Officials said the driver of the Prius and passengers inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Eastbound I-20 near Cooper Street was temporarily closed while officers investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Police said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity at a later time.
