
ARIZONA — A bicyclist died after being struck in a crash in north Phoenix early Tuesday morning, and the driver involved has been taken into custody, according to police.
Phoenix Police Department officers responded at approximately 5:54 a.m. on June 9 to the area of Greenway Road and Cave Creek Road following reports of a collision involving a bicyclist.
When officers arrived, they found the adult bicyclist suffering from critical injuries. Phoenix Fire Department crews transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where the bicyclist later died.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash initially left the scene. However, police located the driver a short time later and took him into custody.
Authorities have not released the identity of the bicyclist, and the name of the driver has not been made public. No charges have been announced as the investigation continues.
Police have not released additional details about what led to the collision.
