ALABAMA — A Reeltown High School graduate was killed and another person seriously injured Friday night in a motorcycle crash in Wetumpka, according to the Wetumpka Police Department.

First responders were called to the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 231 around 11:05 p.m. after reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. Officers arrived to find two victims at the scene.

Police identified the person killed as Bailee Ward, a Reeltown graduate. Ward was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a Montgomery hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have not released that person’s name.

Southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 231 were shut down for about two hours Friday night while traffic investigators processed the crash scene.

Reeltown High School shared a statement Saturday afternoon mourning Ward’s death. The school also said those wishing to support the family can contribute to a GoFundMe fundraiser.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
