FLORIDA — A 73-year-old man died Saturday after being found floating in the ocean behind a condominium complex on Singer Island, according to the Riviera Beach Police Department.
The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m. near the 3000 block of North Ocean Drive. Witnesses saw the man in the water and pulled him to shore, police said. Bystanders performed CPR until emergency crews arrived, but the man could not be revived.
He was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center and pronounced dead at about 1:15 p.m.
On Sunday, police identified the victim as Nikolay Yurchenko. According to investigators, Yurchenko had arrived in Florida on Nov. 20 with his 18-year-old granddaughter from New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving. The granddaughter told officers she last saw him between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. when he left their condo to go for a swim.
Police said no foul play is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
