OHIO — A 21-year-old man from Defiance was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in northwest Ohio.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 25 and County Road W. Troopers were called to the scene after a car was found submerged in Brush Creek.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling south on County Road 25 when it veered off the east side of the roadway, struck a guard rail end and a bridge abutment, and overturned into the creek.

The driver, identified as Preston Boundy, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said it is unclear whether Boundy was wearing a seat belt at the time, and alcohol impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Due to damage to the bridge abutment, County Road 25 remains closed at Brush Creek. The crash is still under investigation.
