OHIO — The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is warning drivers of two planned sobriety checkpoints this weekend in Alliance.

According to a media release, the Stark County OVI Task Force will conduct the checkpoints on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, to check drivers for alcohol and drug impairment.

“Officers will conduct roadside checks of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment and will be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers,” the release stated.

Specific times and locations of the checkpoints have not been released.

Sobriety checkpoints have been legal in Ohio since a 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, provided they meet certain guidelines, including public notification. Authorities encourage drivers to stay alert and drive responsibly.
