SOUTH CAROLINA — Six people have been arrested following a months-long drug investigation that led to the seizure of more than 38 pounds of marijuana and hundreds of THC products, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
The department’s Street Crimes Unit, working with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), charged the following individuals with trafficking marijuana: Avi Tal, 52; Garrett Johns, 37; Kyle Johnson, 23; Michael Garon, 36; and Netta Atar, 37, all of Myrtle Beach, and Jordan Hewett, 21, of Calabash, N.C.
Investigators said the operation began when officers intercepted parcels containing suspected marijuana.
A controlled delivery led to the execution of a search warrant at a warehouse on Enterprise Avenue, where police discovered what they described as a possible distribution center.
During the search, officers recovered 17,282 grams (38.1 pounds) of marijuana, 148 loose pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, 153 boxes or jars of pre-rolls, 456 boxes of THC vapes—about 2,280 individual units—and 232 packages of THC gummies. They also found repackaging materials, including boxes of mylar bags, glass jars, and custom labels.
Police said testing by SLED confirmed the substances contained marijuana.
“This case underscores the importance of interagency collaboration and highlights the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s commitment to community safety,” Police Chief Amy Prock said in a statement. “By working closely with our partners at SLED, we continue to disrupt illegal operations and protect our residents and visitors.”
