MICHIGAN — Two men were seriously injured Monday morning when a semi truck left the roadway and crashed into the median on US-131 near the Osceola County line.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Investigators say the northbound truck experienced equipment failure, causing it to veer off the road and into the median.

The driver, a 70-year-old man from Evart, and a 43-year-old passenger from Chippewa Lake were both taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Big Rapids City Fire/Rescue, Mecosta County EMS, Curries Towing, Jerry’s Towing, and Meceola Central Dispatch. The crash remains under investigation.
