
SOUTH CAROLINA — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday evening in Oconee County.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Cheohee Valley Road near Whitmire Church Road.
According to initial reports, a vehicle traveling north went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
There were two people in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver was injured and taken to a hospital. The passenger was flown to a separate hospital by helicopter but later died from their injuries.
No additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
