Two people arrested in connection to deadly fentanyl overdose in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — Two men from Saucier have been arrested on felony charges related to the death of a man who overdosed on fentanyl.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as 28-year-old Cameron Michael Coffman and 31-year-old Christopher Devonte Bunch.

On June 7, the Harrison County Narcotics Task Force responded to the 22000 block of Saucier-Lizana Road after a 35-year-old man suffered a fentanyl-related overdose.

Officers found the victim in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

Following evidence analysis and witness interviews, investigators determined that Coffman and Bunch supplied the fentanyl involved. Officials said both men “knowingly distributed the fentanyl and were aware of the dangers of the drug.”

Search warrants were executed at two locations in Saucier, leading to the arrests of Coffman and Bunch. They were taken to the Harrison County Jail, where a judge set their bonds at $500,000 each.

“The investigation demonstrates the aggressive stance to prosecute individuals involved in the distribution of fentanyl and to hold these individuals more accountable for delivering fentanyl resulting in death,” the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The investigation involved assistance from the D’Iberville Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
