PENNSYLVANIA — A Pennsylvania Lottery player is holding a life-changing winning ticket after a $1,000,000 a Year for Life Scratch-Off was sold at a Walmart in Elk County.
According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at the Walmart located at 1102 Million Dollar Highway in Fox Township. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
The $50 $1,000,000 a Year for Life Scratch-Off game offers players a top prize of $1 million per year for life or a cash option of $14.5 million, before applicable withholding.
Lottery officials reminded players that Scratch-Off prizes expire one year after the game’s end-sale date. Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to begin the claims process.
The Pennsylvania Lottery noted that Scratch-Off tickets are distributed randomly, meaning neither the Lottery nor its retailers know where winning tickets will be sold until a prize is claimed.
All Pennsylvania Lottery prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to applicable tax withholding.
