MICHIGAN — A 46-year-old Calhoun County man is celebrating after winning a $1 million prize from the Michigan Lottery.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, won the top prize playing the Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game.
“I don’t play the lottery a lot, but whenever I feel like buying a ticket, I’ll buy one,” the winner said. “When I saw it was a $1 million winner, I freaked out, it feels like I can breathe again.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Lakeview Liquor, located at 2497 Capital Avenue Southwest in Battle Creek.
The winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. He chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 instead of annuity payments totaling the full $1 million.
The man said he plans to use part of his winnings to buy a new car and save the rest.
