Forecasters say flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible through Saturday evening. The region has already received 4 to 10 inches of rain on Friday, with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected Saturday. Some locations could receive up to 3 inches of additional rainfall.

The National Weather Service warns that areas hit hardest by Friday’s rainfall will be especially vulnerable to flooding on Saturday. Excessive runoff could cause rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying, flood-prone areas to overflow. Flooding is also possible in urban areas and locations with poor drainage, with extensive street flooding possible.

Residents are urged to monitor the latest forecasts and remain alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops and should never drive through flooded roadways.
