
INDIANA — A man died after a shooting Thursday night on Indianapolis’ near east side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers were dispatched just after 8 p.m. to the 2000 block of East Washington Street following reports of a person who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male inside an apartment suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said he died shortly after arriving.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and have launched an investigation into the shooting.
No additional information about a suspect or the circumstances surrounding the incident was immediately released.
