TENNESSEE — Northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Loudon County are closed indefinitely following a crash involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian Tuesday afternoon, according to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near mile marker 82.5 just before 2:45 p.m. The sheriff’s office said first responders from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Loudon County Fire Rescue, Priority Ambulance Service and the Tennessee Department of Transportation were assisting at the scene of the crash.

One person was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

As a result of the crash, all northbound traffic on I-75 is being diverted at Exit 81. The northbound entrance ramp at the Lenoir City exit has also been closed.

Officials said traffic in the area is heavily congested, and it is unknown how long the closure will remain in place. Motorists are being urged to use alternate routes and expect significant delays.

“Please drive with extreme caution and be patient as first responders work the scene. Consider using alternate routes if possible and expect significant delays,” the sheriff’s office said.

Southbound traffic on I-75 was also impacted Tuesday due to a separate tractor-trailer crash, which closed the left lane near mile marker 81.

The crash remains under investigation.
