FLORIDA — A four-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County prompted a large emergency response Thursday afternoon and temporarily shut down all eastbound lanes of the interstate.

According to officials, the crash occurred at Mile Marker 21, just east of Exit 22 at Avalon Boulevard. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:43 p.m.

Avalon Fire-Rescue, Pace Fire-Rescue, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and other public safety agencies responded to the crash.

Authorities said six patients were evaluated at the scene, though details about the extent of their injuries were not immediately released.

The Florida Highway Patrol also responded and investigated the crash.

All eastbound lanes of I-10 were initially closed because of the collision, causing traffic delays in the area. Officials later reopened the roadway and traffic resumed.

No further information about the cause of the crash or the conditions of those involved was immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
