
FLORIDA — Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered inside a vehicle submerged in a retention pond in Lakeland early Thursday morning.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:11 a.m. to a report of a vehicle submerged in a retention pond near the 2600 block of County Line Road.
Police said a dive team was called to the scene to recover the vehicle. During the recovery effort, an adult man was found deceased inside the submerged vehicle.
The identity of the man has not been released.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding how the vehicle entered the pond and the cause of the man’s death.
No additional information was immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
