One person dead following vehicle crash in Minnesota

MINNESOTA — At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash late Wednesday night on Highway 52 near Chatfield, according to authorities.

The crash occurred shortly before midnight near the intersection of Highway 52 and County Road 7 SE.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Jeep Cherokee was traveling southbound on Highway 52 while a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound when the two vehicles collided.

Authorities said the drivers were a 62-year-old man from Chicago, Illinois, and a 40-year-old man from Preston. Their names and conditions have not yet been released.

An Olmsted County Sheriff’s deputy at the scene initially reported the crash involved two vehicles and that a medical helicopter had been called to respond.

The Minnesota State Patrol said road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.

Officials have confirmed that at least one person died as a result of the collision, but additional details regarding the victim have not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
