OKLAHOMA — A 44-year-old Ponca City man was killed and another person was injured following a motorcycle crash in Osage County on Tuesday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Jeremy Bearden was traveling westbound on U.S. 60 when a box fell off the back of his motorcycle. Bearden pulled onto the shoulder of the highway and allowed another vehicle to pass.

According to OHP, Bearden then re-entered the roadway and attempted to turn around. While doing so, his motorcycle was struck by another westbound vehicle on U.S. 60.

Bearden and a passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle. Bearden was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered injuries and was transported for medical treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Troopers said the vehicle left the roadway after the collision and came to rest in a ditch.

The crash remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
