
SOUTH CAROLINA — A Greer man is facing multiple drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics, a firearm and other items inside his vehicle, according to police.
The Greer Police Department said Andrew Hughes was charged following a traffic stop on Sunday, June 7, near Highway 101 and Interstate 85.
According to investigators, officers initially stopped Hughes for an improper license plate. The stop led to a search of the vehicle, during which police reported finding approximately 6 grams of cocaine, 10.4 grams of heroin, 20 grams of marijuana and a firearm.
Officers also recovered one Xanax pill and three additional pills, which were submitted for laboratory analysis. Police said a digital scale was also found in the vehicle.
Hughes has been charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
In addition to the criminal charges, police said Hughes was issued several traffic citations.
The case remains under investigation.
