
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another was injured Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:46 a.m. on U.S. 221 near Rhodes Drive.
According to investigators, a 2000 Ford Expedition was traveling north on U.S. 221 when it left the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. The SUV then returned to the roadway, crossed to the left side and overturned.
The driver of the SUV died at the scene, troopers said.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the passenger’s condition.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
