
VIRGINIA — A Chesapeake woman was killed and two passengers were seriously injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer Tuesday afternoon in Northampton County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred around 4:27 p.m. in the 29000 block of Lankford Highway (Route 13).
Investigators said a 2009 Honda sedan was traveling south on Route 13 when it collided with a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer that was traveling north and attempting to make a left turn into a business. The impact caused the Honda to become lodged underneath the trailer.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 79-year-old Rebecca B. Davis of Chesapeake, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers riding in the Honda suffered serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their identities and conditions have not been released.
According to state police, the driver of the tractor-trailer, 26-year-old James I. Vallar III, was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the crash. No additional information was immediately available.
