MISSISSIPPI — One person was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 10 in Jackson County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes of I-10 near Gautier-Vancleave Road.
Details about the vehicles involved and the circumstances leading up to the crash were not immediately released. Authorities have also not identified the person who died.
The wreck prompted the closure of all westbound lanes for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators conducted accident reconstruction at the scene.
The closure caused significant traffic backups in the area before the roadway was reopened later Tuesday morning.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. No additional information was immediately available.
