NORTH CAROLINA — A North Carolina Lottery player is holding a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 following Monday night’s drawing, which featured an estimated jackpot of $225 million.
The winning numbers drawn on June 8 were 3, 24, 34, 43 and 49, with Powerball 20. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 3x. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot carried an estimated annuity value of $225 million and a cash value of approximately $100.4 million.
The North Carolina-winning ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball, resulting in a $50,000 prize. Tickets matching that combination are among the top non-jackpot winners in a typical Powerball drawing.
No jackpot-winning ticket was immediately reported from Monday’s drawing, meaning the grand prize is expected to continue growing for the next drawing.
Lottery officials had not yet released details about where the winning ticket was sold in North Carolina or whether the prize has been claimed.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Players who purchase the optional Power Play feature can multiply most non-jackpot prizes, though the Match 5 prize is excluded.
Lottery officials encourage players to carefully check their tickets and sign the back of any winning ticket before claiming a prize.
With no jackpot winner announced, the Powerball jackpot is expected to increase ahead of the next drawing, giving players another chance at a growing multimillion-dollar prize.
