Two $50,000 Powerball ticket winners sold in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY — Two New Jersey Lottery players are celebrating after purchasing Powerball tickets worth $50,000 each in Monday night’s drawing, which featured an estimated jackpot of $225 million.

The winning numbers drawn on June 8 were 3, 24, 34, 43 and 49, with Powerball 20. The Power Play multiplier was 3x. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot carried an estimated annuity value of $225 million and a cash option of approximately $100.4 million.

The two winning tickets sold in New Jersey each matched four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball, earning prizes of $50,000. Tickets at this prize level are among the largest non-jackpot winners in a Powerball drawing.

No jackpot-winning ticket was immediately reported, allowing the grand prize to continue growing for the next drawing.

Lottery officials had not yet released details on where the two winning tickets were sold in New Jersey or whether either prize had been claimed.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Players select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. The optional Power Play feature can multiply most non-jackpot prizes when selected before the drawing.

Lottery officials encourage players to check their tickets carefully and sign the back of any winning ticket before claiming a prize.

With no grand-prize winner reported, the Powerball jackpot is expected to increase for the next drawing as players across the country seek a chance at the growing prize.
