
TEXAS — Two people were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in the Lopeno area of Zapata County, according to the Zapata County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped a vehicle on U.S. Highway 83 and later deployed a K-9, which alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Following a search, deputies said they discovered approximately 3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine concealed inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said the suspected narcotics tested positive during a field test.
Juan Antonio Moreno Jr. and Yvette Jimenez were arrested and charged with second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance involving more than four grams but less than 200 grams.
Both were taken into custody as the investigation continues.
No additional information was immediately released.
