GEORGIA — Authorities in eastern Georgia are investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby after a possible dog attack inside a home.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at approximately 9:21 a.m. Saturday to a residence in the 500 block of Hillwood Circle after receiving a report of a deceased infant.
When deputies arrived, they found the baby dead inside the home. Officials said the scene was secured and all occupants were safely removed from the residence.
Investigators from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Services and the Richmond County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. As part of the investigation, Animal Services removed a Cane Corso dog from the home.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of death and said investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and gather information to determine exactly what happened.
