One woman attacked by bicyclist while walking in Illinois

ILLINOIS — An 18-year-old woman reported being attacked by a bicyclist while walking home in Arlington Heights late Sunday night, according to police.

The incident happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. near Lake Arlington in the area of Windsor Drive and Jonquil Circle.

Police said the woman was walking home when a male bicyclist approached her and asked for her name. The suspect then allegedly pushed her to the ground and began choking her.

Authorities said the woman fought off the attacker and was able to get the attention of a passing motorist, who called for help.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident, police said.

The suspect was not immediately identified, and no arrests had been announced as of Monday morning.
